Meet Noreen and Nora: It's No Mystery: We're One Woman!
The name Nora Charles honors my mother, Nora, as well as Nora Charles, a classy dame and a great, funny sleuth
Noreen lives in downtown Sarasota, Florida, across the street from the Performing Arts Center, with her husband, Steve, and an Australian Shepherd, named Champ. Their sons visit often. Hey, surf and sun are great lures.
Noreen is the current president of the Florida Chapter of Mystery Writers of America and serves as a member of the Mystery Writers of America's National Board of Directors. Noreen previously served as the founding president of MWA-Mid-Atlantic Chapter, and as EVP and Secretary for the Mystery Writers of America's National Board of Directors.
As Nora Charles, Noreen is the author of Berkley Prime Crime's South Florida Senior Sleuth Series starring Kate Kennedy as a modern Ms. Marple. The bestselling, well-reviewed Senior Sleuth Series is also available in Large Print.
As Noreen Wald, she wrote the Ghostwriter Mystery Series -- starring Jake O'Hara as a New York City ghost, whose assignments are murder: Enter Dying, Remembrance of Murders Past, Death Never Takes a Holiday, Death Comes for the Critic, and Ghostwriter, a Mystery Guild selection. Ghostwriter was praised in The New York Daily News and The Sun-Sentinel and was #1 on The Dallas Morning News bestseller list.
Her nonfiction books are: Foxy Forever, How to be Foxy at Fifty, Sexy at Sixty and Fabulous Forever - St. Martin's Press, and Contestant: The Success Secrets of a Game Show Veteran, Avon Books.
In the company of celebrities such as Joyce Brothers and Lillian Gish, Noreen lectured on four crossings aboard the QE2 and aboard the Oceanic to South America.
A winning contestant on seven television game shows -- including Jeopardy! -- Noreen later worked for Goodson-Todman and Merv Griffin Productions, helping to develop television game show pilots.
Noreen has lectured at the Smithsonian, the CIA , the National Press Club and aboard the QE II. She taught at the Writer's Center in Bethesda, MD and at the Florida Center for the Book in Fort Lauderdale. 27 of her students have been published.
She now teaches for the Pierian Springs Academy in Sarasota.
